Local moving may be less complex and demanding that long distance moving, but it still involves a particular set of rules and regulations. Learning about these rules and regulations in advance can help you to experience a better move and even lower the cost of your relocation. In this new series of blog posts, we will examine some of the most important rules and regulations for local moving in the hope of clarifying a few useful and important questions for our customers and the general public.

Local Moving Costs – Determining the Price per Hour

Nearly all moving and relocation companies charge an hourly fee for local moving. The cost per hour depends on the number of movers and trucks you will need in order to complete your move. Smaller moves can be serviced with only three movers, while three or four bedroom houses will require between four and six movers to complete. Obviously, the more movers, the higher the cost per hour. On the other hand, the more movers, the less time it would take to complete the move.

This new Alpha Moving and Storage blog post will help you get a better understanding of the rules and regulations of local moving.

Local Moving Costs – Calculating the Total Number of Hours

Once the charge per hour is determined, the rest depends on how many hours it would take to actually complete your local move.

Movers charge for the time it takes to pack and prepare the shipment, load the truck, drive to the destination and offload. On top of that, a fee called ‘travel time’ will be applied. Travel time is calculated according to the time it would take the movers to drive back to the warehouse from the destination location.

Because local moves are charged by the hour, the more packed and organized you are on the moving day, the faster would it take to load the truck. Therefore, it is recommended to start packing, disassembling and preparing for your local move as early as possible.

Alpha Moving helped us move from an apartment with many stairs in Hoboken to a suburban home in NJ. There team was very responsive, professional, punctual, … More and communicative. I was very happy with their service, and they helped make the experience less stressful. The Alpha team was great at communicating ahead of and during our move and they set our expectations on pricing. We were very happy with our decision to hire Alpha.

My experience using Alpha Moving and Storage was excellent. The crew was courteous and professional. They took their time to ensure that everything was … More covered and packaged before the move so there was no damage. They made sure everything was positioned correctly in our house, and even helped to move a few pieces of furniture that were not part of the original move. I would highly recommend

I recently hired Alpha Moving to help a family member move from a 3rd-floor walk-up in Brooklyn to New Jersey, and I couldn't be more impressed with … More their service. The team was punctual, professional, and showed exceptional care for both the Brooklyn apartment and the New Jersey home. They took extra precautions to protect the walls and floors, which we really appreciated. Communication was excellent before, during, and after the move, making the entire process much less stressful. I highly recommend Alpha Moving to both family and clients—they’re reliable, professional, and offer very reasonable pricing..
