We recently made a little survey with our Alpha Moving and Storage foremen and asked them what they thought was the single most important aspect of any relocation process.
It is not surprising that the almost unanimous answer was packing.
Decisions about your packing strategy can change the nature of your move for good or ill and to a large extent the success of any move depends on whether or not your precious items of furniture and boxes arrive safe and sound to the destination, definitely something that is related to correct packing.
Let’s take a look at a few tips and recommendation that can help you to make the right packing decisions.
Making Correct Decisions about Packing
When it comes to packing, a lot depends on the size of the house and the amount of furniture it contains and the value of the goods.
Naturally, the recommendation is to hire professional movers to provide full packing services for larger moves and for expensive items of furniture.
Self packing is problematic insurance wise and may lead to unnecessary damages.
For smaller moves, self packing is an option but it should be accompanied with correct planning and a well thought of packing schedule.
Using Quality Packing Materials
Our strong recommendation is to use only new and specially designed packing materials. This will help you to avoid unnecessary damages and heartache.
Even if you decide that you prefer to self pack, you can still request your movers to provide you with the packing materials.
Most movers can arrange for a ‘box delivery’ and provide materials such as boxes, bubble wrap and tape to your doorstep.
If you decide to have movers do all the packing for you, make sure that you receive a complete and all inclusive packing price that will include both materials and packing labor.
