Prepare for Your Upcoming Move
Alpha Moving & Storage has put together a helpful moving checklist guide for you to go through before your upcoming move. Take a look at all the preparations you need to make in order to be ready for the big move!
Confirming all the Moving Details with Your Movers
If you haven’t heard from your movers, call them to verify that you are still on the schedule.
- Confirm the pick up time.
- Go over the pick up address one more time and make sure they have the correct details.
- If you have any last minute inventory updates or changes, be sure to tell your relocation consultant about them.
- If you have any changes in your packing needs, update your relocation consultant. If you planned to do the packing yourself and didn’t have enough time or knowledge, ask your mover to bring packing supplies and reevaluate the estimate with packing fees included.
- If you have any parking difficulties or access issues, make sure the driver is made aware of them.
Final Personal Preparations
The day before the move is when you can pack all the things you’ll need as soon as you get to your new home.
- Prepare a box or two with all the items you will need as soon as you get to the destination. These boxes should be loaded to the truck last and offloaded first.
- Make sure your refrigerator is defrosted and clean.
- Go room by room and make sure you’ve sold, donated or thrown all away items and furniture you won’t need at the destination
- Moving is very stressful. Plan the day before the move in a way that will allow you and your family an hour or two of rest. Go for a walk in the park, your favorite local restaurant or visit friends. This will help you relieve some of the tension and feel better about the relocation process.
