We won’t be revealing any big secret here by stating that moving can and probably will be stressful.
Managing your relocation schedule correctly can significantly reduce the stress levels and allow you more time for a better preparation process.
Managing your Schedule
Managing your moving and relocation schedule should start at least four to six weeks before your actual moving date.
Our recommendation is to prepare an organized list that will contain all the possible aspects of the relocation process including contacting and hiring movers, packing and organizational processes.
Creating your Packing Schedule
Your packing schedule should be created in the following way:
- Go room by room and write down all the items that need packing.
- Once the list is complete try to organize it into logical sections such as boxing, wrapping and so forth.
- Divide the packing into daily tasks that will leave you enough time to get everything in order for the moving date.
Creating your Other Relocation Schedules
Moving companies that you consider for your relocation should be contacted at least four weeks before your actual pick up date.
This will allow you enough time to compare estimates from reputable and experienced companies.
- Create a list of potential movers and then check their reputation and licenses.
- Your final list should contain about three or four movers that you verified to be trustworthy.
- Prepare a chart that compares the moving rates and extra fees.
Creating written schedules and comparisons will allow you both to make better selections and to limit the stress of the preparations by dividing the work that needs to be done into manageable daily tasks.
In order for such a process to be truly effective, you will need to begin the preparations enough time in advance, contact movers ahead of time and begin the packing process a few weeks before the actual moving date.
