Alpha Moving & Storage Helpful Packing Tips
No matter if you’re moving local or long distance, packing and handling your fragile items is an important part of the preparations. Alpha Moving & Storage offers full service packing for both local and long distance moves. However, if you decide to do some or all of the packing yourself, this guide will help you select proper packing supplies & planning your packing schedule.
Preparing Your Packing Supplies
Before starting the actual packing process, be sure to prepare durable packing materials. Such packing supplies include: new and sturdy boxes, packing tape, labels and stickers or markers, foam peanuts, bubble wrap, white paper or old newspapers.
Alpha Moving & Storage can provide you with packing materials, so be sure to inquire with your sales representatives regarding box delivery options.
Packing Your Fragile Items Before Your Move
When packing your boxes, make sure there are no empty spaces and that the fragile items inside cannot move or shift. In order to avoid breakage, you need to fill in all empty spaces with newspaper or foam peanuts.
When packing plates and dishes, be sure to wrap each item separately with white packing paper. Use suitable sized boxes and try to avoid using boxes that are too large. Stuffing a large box with too many items will normally result in damages.
Label Your Boxes for the Room They Will Go Into
Labeling your boxes of fragile items is also very important. Using your labels, stickers or markers, make sure each box with breakable items is marked accordingly. The movers will know to handle such items with extra care and place them on the moving truck in a way that will lower the chances of incurring damages.
If you have expensive delicate and fragile items, be sure to inquire with your Alpha Moving & Storage sales representative regarding insurance options beyond the free basic liability insurance.
