Selecting the right companies to get estimates from, providing accurate details and receiving an on-location estimate will help you receive cost-effective and accurate estimates.
Dealing with the Right Companies
Don’t wait until after you receive the estimates to find out information about the reputation of moving companies. It is much better to do your research in advance and deal only with reputable companies right from the start.
Start by selecting three to four companies with good Better Business Bureau credentials and appropriate references.

The more accurate you are with the information you provide your mover with, the more accurate will the estimate be. Make sure to mention all items of furniture, including the ones you are yet unsure whether or not you will be moving. Be as precise as possible about packing you may require and all the relevant access conditions.
On-Location Estimates
If possible, it is always a good idea to have a representative come to your house and give you an on-location written estimate. A relocation consultant that actually sees your furniture and the items to be packed and boxed, will be able to provide you with a more accurate and effective estimate.
Be sure to show your estimator all the rooms in the house and all the items to be moved. If you are still unsure about some of the items to be moved, it’s still a good idea to show them to your estimator, just to be on the safe side.
