Moving Tips Provided by Alpha Moving & Storage
With this Alpha Moving and Storage blog post, we begin a new series of brief articles called “Essential Moving”. This series will present various aspects of moving and provide easy to understand tips and explanations.
Things to Consider Before Moving Long Distance
Because of the complexities entailed with long distance moving, it is best to decide about all matters relating to packing, inventory selections and decisions, and timing in advance.
Especially for larger moves, the decision about packing should ideally take place at least four weeks before the actual moving time. This will allow you enough time to order boxes and do the packing yourself, or make all the necessary arrangements to have a mover do the packing for you.
Things to Consider while Selecting a Long Distance Moving Company
Check and double check that the mover you are dealing with has enough experience is doing long distance moving. It would be a good idea to physically check the mover’s facilities to make sure everything is on the up and up and that it has all the trucks and equipment.
You should check not only who will perform the pick up, but also who will be conducting the long distance delivery.
Of course, it goes without saying that you should make sure, by checking license numbers, that you are dealing with a mover and not with a brokerage firm that will subcontract your long distance relocation to a third party without your knowledge.
