In this part, we will focus on the advantages of selecting a local company that has an office and a warehouse in your immediate area.
The Importance of Checking your Mover’s Address
Some customers assume that if a moving company contacts them and provides them an estimate that it must have an office in their immediate area.
You’d be surprised to learn that some of the companies that contact you have offices located in other states. Some of them are not moving companies at all, but brokers that merely pass on your move information to a moving company of their choice. Though not all brokers are dishonest, it is much better to choose your own mover than allowing someone else to do it for you.
Asking for a Physical Address and Verifying It
Just like your mover’s licensing information, the physical address should appear on the estimate, contract and all other correspondence.
Even if the address is in your area, you need to make sure it is not the address of a self storage facility or P.O box.
The best way to go about verifying the address is paying the potential mover a visit. Such a visit will also allow you the opportunity to check the warehouse, storage facility and trucks, to make sure you are dealing with a genuine and legit moving service provider.
A local mover should be able to send a representative to your house and provide you with an estimate on-location.
Such estimates are much more accurate than estimates provided over the phone. An on-location estimate will allow your relocation consultant to provide you an accurate estimate for full packing services.
