Packing your kitchen is one of the last, and most daunting tasks you will need to undertake for your coming move. We need out kitchen appliances and utensils and food supplies till the very last minute. This means packing the kitchen will probably take place in the last day or two before the move, a stressful time as it is. However, packing the kitchen, especially the fragile items, should be carefully done and proper boxes and materials should be used.
Start Early
You can still try and get some or most of the packing early. Try to think of the essential dishes, utensils, pots and pans and so forth that you’ll need until the very last minute and set them aside. Everything else can go into the boxes. You can also set aside and label boxes for such last minute items you’ll need till the last day or two. Items that are not used on a regular basis include serving dishes, odd shaped pots and pans and tablecloths.
Start Eating
Take out all the stuff you keep in your pantry and start cooking and eating what you already have. It is recommended to move as little foodstuffs as possible. Only canned, tinned and packaged goods are allowed, everything else will simply be thrown away, so start eating!
Packing Glassware
You should use packing paper to pack all your glassware and cups. Tuck overlapping edges and be sure to start from the corners, then wrap diagonally. Pack all glassware and cups by placing them in an upright position within the box. To be on the safe side and for extra protection, pad your boxes with some bubble wrap. Also, be sure there are no empty spaces in the box to avoid breakage during transit.
