In the first part of our first Alpha Moving and Storage guide for packing electronics, we offered information about disconnecting and properly labeling your electronics. In this part, we’ll take a look at the actual process of packing them.
Starting the Packing Process
Once you finish removing all the batteries and ink cartridges, be sure to pack them in sealed plastic bags. You don’t want to open your boxes and discover ugly ink stains. Make sure all the cords and remotes are properly labeled, as detailed in part one of this guide.
Using the Original Boxes
Those of you who have had the foresight to save their original electronics boxes, should definitely use them. The original boxes of your televisions, entertainment system, computers etc. can offer maximum protection, as they had been custom made.
Packing it yourself
If you haven’t saved the original box, you should purchase appropriate boxes from your moving company. Alpha Moving and Storage sells boxes that are designed to fit various electronics, such as televisions, DVDs, etc.
Bubble wrap should be used to protect all screens and monitors, as well as other sensitive electronics, such as printers and speakers. Be sure there are no empty spaces in any of the electronics boxes you pack. In order to do that, you should use newspapers or peanuts.
While packing, make sure that items like speakers are upright so no internal components would be damaged.
Don’t use large boxes to pack several items. When it comes to electronics, each item should be packed in its own box.
Label each and every electronics box so the movers would know to handle it with care.
Remember, Alpha Moving and Storage offers full service packing for electronics and has all the necessary materials and boxes. Call your relocation consultant for more information.
