Packing electronics is one of the most complex tasks of moving. Items such as televisions, computers, and stereo systems need to be properly wrapped, packed and protected, in order to avoid damages. Just thinking about all the cords, screens and knobs you need to pack and keep track of, is enough to give you a serious headache. This helpful guide will help you make the process of packing your electronics a little less painful. Disconnecting your Electronics
Before you start disconnecting your electronics, make sure you draw diagrams or even take photos that will help you reconnect them. It’s easy enough to pull out all the cords and plugs, but unless you do that in a planned and organized way, it can get very confusing when the time comes to reconnect everything.
Remember to remove any CDs and DVDs, cartridges from your printers and so on. Also, back up all your computer files, just to be on the safe side.
Labeling
You’d be amazed just how helpful the simple act of labeling can prove to be when the time comes to unpack your goods. Disconnecting your electronics means that you’ll end up with dozens of cords, remote controls and so forth. Even if you’re convinced you know exactly where all the cords go, do yourself a favor, take five more minutes and label everything.
Dusting it up
Even if you’re in a hurry while packing, be sure to dust and clean your electronics. Not only is this your chance of doing some ‘spring cleaning’, it’s actually healthier for your electronics, especially if they are going to be subjected to heat during transit.
