Getting to Know Various Types and Sizes of Boxes
Familiarizing yourself with the various box types will help you plan the packing process and make it easier. Here is a short guide for some of the most commonly used box types, all available from Alpha Moving and Storage.
Book Boxes
Book boxes are intended for the packing of small items, such as CD collections and books. Book boxes are small and easy to carry. Size wise- they are about one and a half cubic feet.
Medium Sized Boxes
Medium sized boxes are three cubic feet. These are normally used for the packing of small appliances, toys, canned food and other items that are not too heavy. Medium sized boxes are also used for the packing of small appliances.
Dish Packs
Dish packs are particularly sturdy and have a double cardboard wall. They are intended for the packing of breakable items such as dishes, china and glassware.
Wardrobe Boxes
Wardrobe boxes are shoulder-high and have a metal hanger in the middle. You can use wardrobe boxes to pack your coats, shirts and so on. Shoes can be placed at the bottom of the box.
Mirror Boxes
As the name implies, mirror boxes are flat boxes that are intended for the packing of paintings, mirrors and so forth.
Mattress Boxes
Again, the name pretty much says it all. Mattress boxes are intended for the packing of mattresses and box springs. A separate mattress box is required for each box spring and each mattress.
